Framed Original Painting

I love painting the trees and ponds of Wimbledon common and this one was made on an afternoon in midwinter. It was inspired by Kingsmere , a place I often paint. Legend has it that the ghost of King Charles I can be seen galloping around here, and on the day I made this picture, when my almost have believed it!

The painting is made with wax resist, watercolour washes, loose watercolour brush strokes and detailed pen. I have used metallic gold acrylic paint to create the golden tones of the sunset.

The picture appeared in a group exhibition at the Kingsgate Project space in January 2021.  It has been framed in a double mount and black frame, size 15 x 12". It benefits from exhibition quality nonreflective glass in the wooden frame.

About Me:

I am a self-taught artist who celebrates the beauty of nature.  I started painting 4 years ago to escape the pain of a chronic condition called fibromyalgia.  Art has changed my life.  Last year, one of my paintings was included in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2021, and I was part of a BBC2 documentary which can still be seen on iPlayer.  (Link on my website).  My work has been shown in the prestigious Mall Galleries.
