acrylic paint, with wax resist, on paper
This is part of a series of works I made during the first lockdown in spring 2020. Almost every day I went walking at dawn on Wimbledon Common with my sketchbook and camera. I observed the birth of wildfowl and the appearance of yellow irises on the Common’s ponds. Although usually crowded, I rarely met anybody. In this painting I celebrate birch woods.
This picture is made with acrylic paint, including metallic colours, on watercolour paper. I used wax resist to evoke morning light through the trees.
Painting is size A3, 42 x 30 cm
