A vibrant original artwork on stretched canvas.

This is part of a series of paintings I made after a trip to Devon. It actually started as a painting of a Suffolk field, but I couldn't seem to get the foreground right, so I painted over about three quarters of the canvas, only keeping the sky, and used the inspiration of a view I was able to study and sketch while in Devon. The motif of the fallen tree is something I come back to over and over in my painting. In this instance, however, there really was a fallen tree in the foreground of the view!

I used strong brushstrokes and emphatic greens to convey my joy at being out in nature. My style could be described as neoexpressionist. I try to capture how a place makes me feel rather than to create a literal representation.

Dimensions are 36 x 46 cm by 2 cm.

The painting sold unframed.  Photos of it framed are for illustration only.  As this is acrylic on stretched canvas, it can be used straight on the wall or you can add a float frame for extra emphasis.

About Me:

I am a self-taught artist who celebrates the beauty of nature.  I started painting 4 years ago to escape the pain of a chronic condition called fibromyalgia.  Art has changed my life.  Last year, one of my paintings was included in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2021, and I was part of a BBC2 documentary which can still be seen on iPlayer.  (Link on my website).  My work has been shown in the prestigious Mall Galleries.
