Kilve Beach Remembered, 2021
Moody seascape painting of rocky shore
Acrylic and pen on stretched canvas, this seascape is one of my personal favourites.
It is a circular canvas, or tondo, created in summer 2021.
It is made with acrylic paint including metallic acrylic paint on stretched primed canvas, and finished with pen in my usual way. The style is neoexpressionist with an emphasis on mood and feeling rather than representation. The strong purple tones conjure a blustery day by a rolling sea, with scrubby vegetation that clings on in an inhospitable environment.
The painting is inspired by the rocky coastline of the Quantocks at Kilve beach, Somerset.
This painting is 12 inches diameter, 30.5 cm. It is sold unframed.
It is painted on artists' quality cotton canvas, stretched on a circular frame and stapled on the back. It is 18 mm deep. The edges are wrapped around the frame but there are no staples visible in the painting goes around the edges. You can use this picture as it is without a frame, or get it framed for extra emphasis.
About Me:
I am a self-taught artist who celebrates the beauty of nature. I started painting 5 years ago to escape the pain of a chronic condition called fibromyalgia. Art has changed my life. One of my paintings was included in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2021, and I was part of a BBC2 documentary. My work has been shown in the prestigious Mall Galleries.
